Morten Harket, the legendary lead singer of the Norwegian band a-ha, has revealed that he has been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. The emotional announcement came during an interview with the band’s biographer, where Harket openly discussed the challenges he’s facing.
Best known for his powerful vocals on the 1985 global hit “Take On Me”—paired with its groundbreaking animated music video—Harket has been a beloved figure in pop music for decades.
Now 64, the artist shared that while the disease has begun to affect parts of his daily life, he remains committed to music and has no intention of stepping away from the stage. He also expressed heartfelt gratitude to his fans for their unwavering support throughout the years.
Formed in Oslo in the early 1980s, a-ha continues to perform and maintain a strong global fan base.
